My name is Katarzyna Kołakowska. I work at the Department of Greek Studies
in the Institute of Classical Studies at the Catholic University of Lublin.
I am interested in Pre-socratic and Platonic philosophy as well as in
mythology, drama, and religion of ancient Greece, with special emphasis on
its cult and ritual aspects. Within the scope of my interest are also the
relations between ancient and contemporary culture, i.e. film, music,
literature, and painting, along with the exploration of the elements of
ancient Greeks’ legacy as related to these fields. A couple of years ago I
became fascinated by the papyri and everything connected with their
deciphering. Because of that since the beginning of this year I have
participated in papyrology classes in the Institute of Archaeology at the
University of Warsaw. In my research I try to show the complexity of the
problems associated with ancient Greek literature, emphasizing its
multi-layered character.
